Mission

OUR MISSION - To enhance Kentucky's Water Environment through training, education, certification and the exchange of operational and technical information with experienced water quality specialists.

The Kentucky Water and Wastewater Operators Association (KWWOA) is a statewide not-for-profit association organized in the fall of 1958. The KWWOA was created by a group of operators from the drinking and wastewater industry, who gathered together in Owensboro, Kentucky and formed what is now known as the Western Chapter of the Association. As news spread across the state, other regions began to see the benefit of such an organization, giving birth to the association's additional chapters. The Central Chapter was formed in 1959, followed by the Eastern and North Central Chapters in 1960. By 1965, the KWWOA Constitution and By-Laws were merged into a State Constitution.

The KWWOA has since grown to a membership of more than 1,400 individuals and organizations. It has provided in excess of 100 hours of continuing education training every year throughout the state, at no more than the cost of membership.

The KWWOA offers membership to all water and wastewater operators/system employees throughout the state of Kentucky. In addition, associate membership is available to individuals not actively working for a drinking water or wastewater system, such as engineers, manufactures, suppliers, contractors, and other individuals or entities actively involved in water and/or wastewater industries.

KWWOA is governed by a State Board comprised of four (4) board members, and two (2) voting representatives from each chapter, elected to staggered two-year terms by the Chapter voting membership, in accordance with the State By-Laws. The Board meets quarterly at various locations throughout the state, to determine the direction of KWWOA and discuss issues of importance to the membership.  An annual membership meeting is also held each spring at the KWWOA's Annual Conference.
